Exercising can be a way to reduce stress and keep your body healthy. The release of endorphins through exercise has been scientifically proven for a long time. Many workouts can be done at home without equipment and without spending money.
What if there is a global pandemic and we are told to stay home? Chances are, the fancy machines in our gyms aren't in our homes, and neither are our favorite trainers to motivate you along the way.
How do we motivate ourselves to train without going to the gym? The answer is simple: the gym is where you want it to be. Burpees are done without any help, so why can't we do them at home? In addition to the many exercises that can be done without machines, there are ways to mimic the atmosphere of the gym with just a Spotify playlist and a mat.
Check out our top five exercises you can do at home without any equipment.
It is not only a matter of the body we want to achieve but also the happiness we feel after a workout.
use the ground
You can do a lot with just your own body weight and the ground. The next time you're in your living room, try doing push-ups, squats, hip rotations, or even planks. We do not recommend this practice for someone who wants to build muscle or who practices bodybuilding. Lifting your own muscles gets you in shape, but it won't give you the body of Jason Mamoa in Aquaman.
Look for weights in the kitchen
Have you ever run too many errands and had to get them home in one trip? The pain your arms feel is the same pain they would feel lifting weights. Take advantage and use those extra packs as weight for a few repetitions. Find things that have a good grip like large cans or an oversized bag of rice. A trip to the kitchen can turn into a 20-minute workout, so why not?
Find virtual classes
If you're the kind of person who needs more motivation to exercise, check out some free online classes. YouTube has tons of them, but some gyms are proactively hosting free online classes.
Download a health and wellness app
There are plenty of apps for your smartwatches that fit a whole host of different criteria. The best ones are subjective, look for one that suits your needs and your pocket.
Work your mental muscles
You must keep in mind the importance of self-care at this time. From mindful eating, good quality sleep, movement to support the immune system, gratitude practices to neutralize fear/anxiety, to stress management.
The most important exercise you can do at home is to make sure you are mentally healthy. Try to give yourself some mental days doing something you enjoy. Don't get overwhelmed by being quarantined at home. Take advantage of the time and practice healthy mental and physical exercises not as a distraction, but as a goal with rewards.
Take care, man.
